While I strongly believe that we should make space for artistic activities in our lives, I also find it difficult to take out time from my busy schedule. Sometimes its work priorities and other times I feel tired or not motivated enough to do anything. If you sail the same boat, continue reading about a getaway I planned over a long weekend.

We all have heard about yoga retreats or fun running events where you focus on doing an activity for a short span of time, but with complete attention. I planned something similar for my art activities. Few months back, my husband & I stayed at a peaceful mountain cottage, just spending time doing what we enjoyed the most.

It was surreal to get engrossed in painting at a new location. The greenery, cool breeze and cloudy skies made for a perfect setting for getting into the creative zone. The rain & the music made the whole experience calming & rejoicing. It was an art retreat! There was no interference and no distractions – a much needed break from the daily hustle & bustle.

Like it’s important to take out time for exercising for physical fitness, its also essential to carve out time for artistic endeavours. If not daily, then weekly. When it gets impossible to find time for our interests, at such points these rejuvenating retreats help us sort our priorities and feel energised.

If this is something that sounds interesting, perhaps plan your next weekend as an art retreat and completely zone off into something truly calming & enriching.

If you are struggling to think what you would do at an art retreat, just buy some art supplies, take inspiration from our art & craft projects and book your destination. It will be worth it and you will thank us later!
